I finally have and am starting Metro 2033. Here’s the not really interesting story; I heard about Metro 2033 around two and a half years ago, by way of a gaming website (which later became a full on announcement at Lepzig 2009) & just HAD to have it on a psychotically obsessive level. It was not available in the states at the time and still isn’t. After trying everywhere for a year I gave up, got the game & kind of forgot about it. That day came in February 2011, when Amazon.com had copies on pre-order that were shipping in April for $10, a lot less than the $40+ shipping everyone else was asking. Come the month of June…. still no book, they gave me a credit & they cancelled the order….. at 2 in the morning so I had no idea till I got an email the following day. Moi? Pissed. After much searching I wound up purchasing a copy from a seller in the UK, which is one of the few places worldwide to get an English copy (as my Russian is only good enough to direct a cab and get a hotel room….. and insult someone). It took 3 weeks to get stateside & arrived shortly before I went to Seattle. Which was the world’s most boring vacation as I spent the whole time babysitting my grandfather. By that time I was fully ensconced in the A Song of Ice and Fire series & my OCD wouldn’t let me pick up Metro until I finished the books I had. Well…. books finished & FINALLY starting it. End of story. Are you bored yet?
Is that a word? I don’t think so….. Oh well, it is now. Clusterfucky. I like it.
But yeah, my music taste is a real clusterfuck. I go from black metal to sludge. From sludge to nu-metal. From nu-metal to symphonic. From symphonic to hard rock. From hard rock to some very disturbing rap. From some very disturbing rap to Gregorian. From Gregorian to techno & agro-tech. International music is a constant favorite, as is Neue Deutsche Härte and videogame soundtracks.
Seriously. Where did my taste go?….. Wait. What do you mean I never had any? What do you mean one’s earliest music love being Godsmack is abnormal? So what if I don’t know who the chart topping artists of the last decade are! They probably are all horrible.
….I’ve come to the conclusion my taste in music may be a clusterfuck, but it is sure as hell better than 98% of the human population’s.
A better question would be where did my sanity go. :/ Just a thought.
While its great to know how a story ends, especially after all the waiting, it makes me want to go back to the beginning when a series was brand new, nothing changed and everything was there. Finishing Gears feels exactly like when I first finished Halo 3, the whole ‘Is it really over? Didn’t I just start? What do you mean it was years ago?’ type of feeling. Kind of depressing really. In fact, really depressing because I never want a series to end. I’d rather it go on forever and come to my own conclusions on how something ends.
…I miss it already & I really REALLY didn’t want Dom to die. If it really had to end, I would have it end with all of Delta Squad together, like its supposed to be.
Mine’s an HP :(. And yeah, I desperately need it. I may end up having to get two cause I need to save up money to buy an apartment for next year. I don’t want to live in the dorms again.
I would seriously consider getting two, just in case one decides to puke. It seems batteries are not lasting anywhere near as long as they used too. The Old Man (my dad) had a Dell in the early 00’s that ran for nearly 8 hours with no issues, and when my battery was brand new I was lucky to get 3.
So do I but I can’t get one till I save up enough money and that won’t happen till this job gets back to me if they will hire me.
I’m lucky to the extent that a new one is only about $22. Acer isn’t the best computer company, but the replacement parts are cheap and readily available. (I once had an HP where the ac cord broke a few times, $100 every time I needed a new one. Acer? $12. I can live with that.)
Hope you get your job. Mine is killing me right now, I never want to see the word extreme again.
